Libraries are one of the only places left where you are not expected to purchase anything in order to be there. You might say they are always having an open house. And yet, there are many Norwich residents who have never utilized the library’s services, and because of digital lending, there are even patrons of the library who have never actually set foot in the building. The Norwich Public Library wants to change that. On Saturday, August 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., NPL will host its first-ever (at least first in the last 20+ years that we know of) open house.
Staff, along with some board members and Friends of NPL, will be present to greet patrons and to answer questions about all of the different aspects and offerings of the Norwich Public Library. Meet Amy, the new Youth Services Librarian, and see what she has in store for the kids’ room and programming. There will be information about volunteering, where and how to access the digital options for borrowing material, and about in-person adult and all-ages programming. Snacks and beverages will be available. The afternoon at the library will culminate with author, illustrator, and MacArthur “Genius” Fellow winner, David Macaulay, who will give a talk at 12:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to come check out what the Norwich Public Library has to offer.
